Delegatie werkt niet snel met subview

Bewerken: iemand suggereerde dat dit een duplicaat was van een andere vraag. Het is niet dat ik heb geïmplementeerd:
- (NSInteger) tableView: (UITableView *) tableView numberOfRowsInSection: (NSInteger) sectie // (snel natuurlijk).
In een ViewController maak ik programmatisch een tableView en voeg deze toe als een subview. Ik heb een klasse met de naam DataSource die UITableViewDelegate en UITableViewDataSource gebruikt via twee extensies.
Ik volg een voorbeeld dat hier wordt gegeven
Ik krijg een foutmelding:

0x7f88cc406ac0 is het adres van de bevattende ViewController.
Zelfs als ik de bevattende ViewController laat gebruiken UITableViewDelegate via een extensie en dat dan de DataSource-implementatie van tableView: numberOfRowsInSection roept, zie ik nog steeds de fout.
